The following are notes from an exhortation given during the prayer meeting on December 19, 2016:
We are zeroing in on the kingdom message. The message of the kingdom is an exposition of the nature of God. You have not received entry into the kingdom of God if you have not received meekness and lowliness. God wants to cause us to enter his kingdom, implying that he will release great power to make us lowlier – to make us lowly enough to enter. Making a man lowly is not just an activity of might. You cannot brutally force man into lowliness. It takes the greatest powers of God to make a soul meek, and this is one thing satan can never do. Satan can make someone look holy on the outside while the inside is full of haughtiness and pride. The scripture says in 2 Timothy 3:5 that we can have a form of godliness while denying the power of God, but that power is what can make a man meek. Meekness is a manifestation of the greatest powers of God; for one to have all power and still be lowly – that is greatness. Satan does not have that. Satan exalts and vaunts himself.
The meekness of the kingdom comes by understanding. You need to come into a certain revelation – a light that makes you see the truth. Lies make us think of ourselves more highly than we ought to (Romans 12:3). But when the light of God begins to shine upon our souls and we begin to see the truth, then that ugly desire to be elevated is broken down by the entrance of revelation, and only the Holy Spirit can do that. Before a man can be brought to a point where he is comparable to the Son of God, there has to have been beams of light and truth incident upon the soul – this is the ministration of the kingdom. From the throne of God comes lessons and courses in meekness. Jesus went through that school of meekness. He learnt meekness and lowliness for 30 years, and when he fulfilled the criteria of meekness which pleases God, the the spirit of God descended upon him at Jordan (Luke 3:22).
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 “come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. The things which make men weary are often times the same things which make them haughty. These are the things in which a man’s life consist in his eyes. But Jesus said “take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls”. You can only find rest in God’s habitation, and you can only access his habitation by descending inwardly.
Isaiah 57:15 – “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones”.
Prayer: Father expose me to the powers of the kingdom that makes one meek
